Spring outing to a nature reserve

I bought some time ago a bunch of papers from a webshop from my all time favorite Maja Design. The latest collections from Autumn and Spring. When emptying my camera last nigth, I found pictures from our outing to a nature reserve nearby, Ramsholmen.

So, what is an nature reserve then ?
In Åland there are total of 44 nature reserves and one seal protection site. This is equivalen to 1.2% of the total area of the Åland Islands. All reserves are a part of Natura 2000, which is the EU's network of protected nature reserves. the purpose of the reserves is to protect different natural types and species. Meadow forests and fields demand care with old tried and tested methods if the species are going to thrive. Hay is made in several nature reserves and branches are taken for drying, to be used as animal food.
There are many different nature types in the nature reserves of Åland, such as diciduous or pine forests, bogs and swamps, bird skerries and gravel islands. many of the smaller reserves are not suitable for visits. On the main island the larges reserves in Nåto, Ramsholmen, Prästgärdsnäset and Herrö are recommended to be visited.

Ramsholmen, the one close to where we live, is filled with wood and blue anemones and loads and  loads of other spring flowers. This is where we went. As you can see in the pictures there is an old tree that is hollow. The kids love to climb in it and there is a opening higher up that one can stand and look out from. Very exciting. My little one has learned to pose and this can be seen in the pictures.

I just had to scrap some of those pictures. I used the weekly sketch from Let's Scrap and the result is this.
Papers are from Maja Design spring collection and Bazzil Basics and letters from American Crafts.

  1. That is the coolest tree! My kids loved going hiking and finding little spots like that. Fun page!
