Our older son is into sailing. He started last year in a new beginners group and there was no doubt if he would continue this summer or not. He started with one weeks intensive training, 3 hrs a day. He loved it and continued going every thursday evening. He is actually good in it.
The leaders have him as a general helper. He gets to help his group mates if they have problems as the leaders have quite many kids there. So he fixes his own boat ready first and then helps others getting their boats ready. He is also one of the kids that sail his own boat the whole time and gets special exerices. Which makes he feel good and gets more training, which makes him feel good at it and that's the reason he thinks this sailing thing is so fun.
