First snow of the year

At last the winter is here!
November is a grey, boring and depressing month. It feels like the sun is taking a break and not many days are blessed with those golden rays. This autumn has been long and warm.
Yesterday, on the 21st of november, the first snow fell and made the landscape white. Away was the grey dark gloominess and this morning the sun appeared. This morning the white stuff on the ground and a dashing sunshine made everything so beautiful.

The hopes are up that we would get some kind of winter this year, since last year we had snow only for couple of days. Otherwise the winter was snowless, dark and wet. Kids did not like it at all. They didn't go skiing nor did they go ice skating either. In school the sports lessons were not including any winter sport activities at all.

Few years ago this date, we had had winter and snow already for a month. Can you believe it ? That winter the snow stayed from middle of october to the end of march or perhaps it was middle of april. And the amount cannot even be described, it was humongous or extreme. We kept cleaning the snow from those stairs and beside the snow wall kept growing. And without lying too much it was 1,5 - 2 meters snow walls. That took a while to melt away in the spring. 

We are all waiting for some more snow, and yes I am aware that this snow will not stay since it is far too warm still. But keeping the hopes up.
