Hi there,
long time no see...
I thought to show you some pictures and tell a bit about our vacation this winter.
As you know, we love Thailand. This year it was time to go back to Koh Lanta.
The winter hadn't really started at home at the time of our vacation. No snow but a rainy and dark autumn has done enough for us to long for the Thailand sun. So, we packed our suitcases and off we went.
We flew the "new" dreamliner and boy was it smooth. The flight took 9,5 hrs and was more silent than normally. This is great when you have children who have difficulties sleeping in that airplane noise. Bose- head phones and click them on and suddenly the flight was totally quiet.
Ok, so we get to Krabi. The humid warmth hit us stepping out of the plane just like it always does. The Krabi airport has made some improvements and we got to step into a bus. That the bus then drove 50 meters to the terminal door, seemed kind of unnecessary. But hey, if it like this it's gonna be done, so be it. Then we started queuing. Thank god, I was quick out of the bus and got almost first in line for the immigration. And I was happy that I had changed clothes in the plane just before landing. The temperature in a full immigration hall was closer to 35 degrees... So, sweaty and tired we got to have our photos taken by the immigration controller. This time however the controller was human..ish. He almost smiled at me. Woot woot! That has never happened before!
Well well, we got our suitcases and off we went to find our taxi. Easy, with the help of the guides. But then we had to wait for the other passengers (3 persons) who was to travel with us in the same taxi. We waited for 35 minutes for them in the warm taxi. I recall our first trip to Koh Lanta when we waited in the taxi the travel agent had cold water bottles waiting for each passenger. Guess they have had to save money so this was not a service they provided anymore. However, it would have been a welcome gesture. We had two water bottles with us from the plane, but of course not cold. Better than nothing, right. Anyways, off we went. The taxi drive took 1 hr to the first ferry where we waited for a while to drive on board the ferry. Then on Lanta Noi the drive was short but the queue to the second ferry was loooong. We waited for 45 minutes to get to the ferry. Our friends waiting at the hotel to welcome us was kind of stressing. The kids got really nervous and started whining about the wait. But what could we do... swim? Yeah, right.
At last we arrived to the hotel and got to our room. A great room with direct access to the pool. Guess if the kids loved that!
So, at last at the hotel, we went to take a look at the hotel area, find some lunch and the kids got to swim. But as it can be in Thailand, it started raining quite heavy. However, it lasted15 minutes.
And never has a club sandwich tasted better! Even the boys ate without noticing the fried eggs and the onions. And see if the rain stopped these water monsters from enjoying the pool.
Just so that I wouldn't forget, I got DH to take a picture of me directly. I was on this trip too, even though I might not be seen in so many pictures later on.
When the rain stopped the sun reappeared and boy was it nice. We were sitting on our patio and enjoying the sun and cold drinks as the boys were jumping in the water. These pictures are taken from our patio.
The first afternoon was clearly a hit for the boys. The swam until the sunset and we almost got too late for our dinner date with our friends in the village Sala Dan. When we got back to the hotel, we all fell asleep quite easily and slept until 8 the next morning.
So this was the first day of our vacation.
To be continued.....
Hugs,
Susanna
