Easter road trip

As I already mentioned yesterday we took a family trip up north. Our trip started with a boat trip to Sweden, to Kapellskär early on thursday morning. From there we set the GPS to Hemavan and it gave us the route and guided us 950 km to our northern destination, which took us appr. 11,5 hours.

After a good nights sleep we were ready for our first day in Hemavan which was to be spent in the slopes. The kids had been waiting for it so long. First task was to rent skis to all of us. A wait in the queue was almost unbearable to the kids. But after a while we were equipped and ready.

Stefan got help from our friend who helped him to the lift and down the first time in the slopes. The second time was with me.

But he felt that the thing with the lift was too difficult so he preferred to ski on the side of the slope. Dad, who was not skiing, pulled him up a bit and then he did ski down by him self. Dad got a good workout that day, because when Stefan found out that being fun... so, yes, you get it... he wanted more and more and more... and...

Big brother also got some help with the lift from our friend. But as he is a quick learner, he just needed help the first time. After that he did it few times himself and then he wanted to come with us grown ups to the top. OK, I thought, he needs to try it out to figure it being to difficult. But he loved it ! I took some pictures of the views up there...

Well, this day was fun. After lunch I did a huge mistake an took off my skiing boots, which I couldn't get back on in the afternoon. So I had to return them to the shop where I rented them. Stefan was at that time fed up with skiing so he didn't mind stopping for the day. Thomas, however, would have liked to continue all afternoon. We headed to the after ski ! This was not that fun for the kids because of the loud music (Thomas having trouble with his ears couldn't bear with the loud music) Well, we checked it out and decided to head back to the hostel we were staying at.

This is a small advertisement: Hemavan fjällcenter rents cheap rooms and served tasty food in their restaurant. Totally worth a recommendation !!

Well, the second day was an outdoor day, that too. We drove over to Tärnaby to spend the day with our friends friend. We put up a fire on the shore (frozen, of course) and the kids got to drive a snow scooter. Wohoo !!! How fun wasn't that ! The kids enjoyed their day and we adults were sitting by the fire and cooking lunch and talking. It was so much fun ! but since we had an fire the smoked kinda got to us. Our clothes smelled really bad and had to be locked in the back of the car when we returned to the hostel. But so totally worth the smell was that day.

The next morning we woke up early to clean our room and pack the rest before breakfast. We had asked if we could get breakfast a ½ hour earlier, since we were leaving and had a tiny drive back home. We had a huge breakfast and started our drive home, some 950 kilometers. A last stop before coming in Tärnaby just to get a last picture of the beautiful place, Hemavan.

The drive back home took us some 10,5 hours + the 2 hours with the ferry. The boys were so great the whole trip and watched dvd-films for 7 hours and sang the rest. At the ferry we had dinner and the boys were playing around. When arriving home the boys were so tired that it took appr. 5 minutes to get them undressed and sleeping.

So to sum up this weekend: It was a trip far away with loads of fun for us and the boys and a long drive back. I'm sure that it will take a while until we make a trip like this again by car. It was such fun to see our friends again. It had been too long time since the last time. I hope that the next time will not be too far away in the future.

That's all from our easter road trip.
Hughs,
Susanna
